Witness the first performance of new songs, inspired by the rivers Swale and Ure, created especially for this Festival by composer Vivek Haria, performed by returning outstanding young soprano Margaret Lingas and Grammy Award-winning pianist Christopher Glynn.The programme of music old and new, flowing through the centuries, also features works by Benjamin Britten and – with renowned lutenist and Dales resident Jacob Heringman – songs by the Renaissance composer John Dowland.Vivek Haria’s new work - SANGAM: Songs of the River - is commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic SocietyPresented in partnership with the RPS, Ryedale Festival, and Wensleydale Concert Series.
