Yotties' Week

The Yotties return to The Royal Yacht Britannia!Just once a year, it’s your chance to meet the Yacht’s former crew (Yotties) Mon 11 – Thurs 14 May, who will don their white overalls once again and return to their beloved Britannia. As they are painting, scrubbing, sanding and polishing, come hear their memories, what it was like to live and work on the monarch’s ship as they sailed Britannia around the world.The peals of laughter and camaraderie of the crew is clear to see and hear as they step back aboard the ship they called home, only to be interrupted by their traditional daily tot of Pusser’s rum at their 4pm ceremony!
The ship’s five highly accessible decks are open for you to explore, with your choice of audio guide, in 36 languages, BSL/ASL tablet or Braille script. Come rain or shine, we’re an all-weather visit, with a refreshing breath of fresh sea air in between. Everyone is welcome at Britannia, with lifts and ramps installed to allow easy, relaxed access.The State Apartments feel as if the Royal Family have left only moments ago, leaving you to explore at your own pace. Below decks, see the Yotties’ former crew quarters and a real highlight, look into the Engine Room where you can almost hear the hum of the machinery, gleaming just as it did for over 40 years.For an extra special moment, head up to the top of the ship to the Royal Deck Tearoom where hearty soups, filling sandwiches, cake and golden scones ready to be topped with jam and clotted cream call to you, tasting all the better as you look out over the waterfront.What’s even better, an Annual Pass is included with your ticket, so you can come back for free for 12 months.
