Work with artist and musician Lou Barnell to record and compose your own ASMR soundscape.ASMR describes the tingling, calming response some people feel when they listen closely to quiet, detailed sounds.
Artists have taken this idea further - treating tapping, rustling and crunching as raw material for building immersive soundscapes. In this workshop we will experiment with sound and listening, considering how the body responds to different tones and textures, and how touch, vibration and stillness can shape the way we experience sound. You will have the opportunity to create your own recordings using specialist microphones and compile them into your own soundscape.Ahead of the workshop, Site Gallery's youth collective the Society of Explorers will build a library of ASMR inspired objects for participants to record and experiment with.
You will also be able to bring your own items along on the day.No prior experience or knowledge of music-making or production is needed.
All equipment will be provided. This workshop is suitable for ages 11+
