Not just spoken word but... FOLK & WORD. A different kind of Open Mic session in York.
Safe, friendly and diverse, we welcome poets, acoustic singers and musicians, and all kinds of spoken word genres including storytelling, drama, monologues and comedy.One mic/stand, one amp and a guitar on site.We started up in summer 2025 and now attract a inspiring range of performers and new friends on the third Tuesday of each month (except August) upstairs at the historic Black Swan in York.We've taken care not to clash with the schedules of other spoken word open mics in York - cos they're all good and we support them.Everyone welcome. Try out fresh material or revive an old fave (original work encouraged). Or just sit and enjoy the others.FREE with a purchase from the bar.Access by stairs only, sorry: it's an ancient listed building.New season starts 15th September 2026.
