Kimbolton Castle Open Day

Kimbolton Castle will open its doors to the public on Sunday 7 March 2027.At the heart of our community stands a building of remarkable national importance, with a rich and fascinating story spanning centuries.This special open day offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of Kimbolton Castle, from its medieval origins through the turbulent years of the Civil War, to Sir John Vanbrugh's magnificent transformation of the house.Visitors can also discover the story of Katharine of Aragon's time at Kimbolton, learn about the Castle's more mysterious resident ghosts, and explore the important role the area played during the Second World War through a display on the American forces stationed in Kimbolton.Guests will be able to visit the Castle's stunning State Rooms, including the Queen's Room, where Katharine of Aragon spent her final days.

The dedicated Heritage Room will guide visitors through the Castle's long history, from its beginnings as a Norman motte-and-bailey stronghold to its acquisition by Kimbolton School in 1950 and its continuing place at the centre of village life today.
