Performed by the Full Circle Quartet with poet Mandy Pannett plus jazz/roots ensemble Poetry in Motion, with brilliant saxophonists Josephine Davies and Charlotte Glasson and top class jazz musicians.
The South Downs Poetry Festival is delighted to bring together two exciting music/poetry ensembles for a very special performance overlooking the Roman ruins in the Novium museum. The South Downs Suite intersperses Mandy Pannetts evocative Downland poems with original jazz from the Full Circle Quartet, comprising bandleader and bassist Terry Pack, award-winning saxophonist Josephine Davies, TV composer Joss Peach and drummer Angus Bishop. The Poetry in Motion ensemble focuses on the visionary poems of William Blake, who lived in Sussex and was tried in Chichester for sedition, with the streetwise verse of the American Beats who were inspired by Blake. The ensemble comprises poet Barry Smith, guitarist Chris Hardy and saxophonist Charlotte Glasson. Clear the decks for an evening of visionary experience.
