Theatre Tour

Every tour will give you the chance to enjoy a glimpse behind the scenes. Learn about the history, wonder at the architecture and the astonishing plasterwork as our Tour Guide takes you to areas that are normally off-limits to the general public.See some of the repairs and restoration work we have been carrying out. Last year we had a new central heating system installed in the ground floor of our auditorium. Repairs to our historic fibrous plaster ceiling and missing box front have also been carried out. We are now in the second year of our five year plan.Tours have a maximum of 10 people on them plus our Tour Guide and last a minimum of 1 hour, please allow longer due to acess needs of audience.Children must be 8 or over, under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and will require a ticket.
We recommend that infants should not be on the tour, but If bringing infants they must be carried at all times.Dogs (unless assistance dogs) are not allowed on Tours.Please be aware that due to limited disabled access, those with mobility difficulties may only be able to have access to the auditorium and foyer.We recommend visitors to wear warm clothing and sensible shoes.As work has been taking place in the theatre please be aware there is dust in the air if you suffer with any respiratory conditions, if you feel you require a mask we can provide one.
