Welcome to Copped Hall for our May Open Day! The Mansion and 24 acres of gardens will be open for you to explore. Our Open Days are always busy, with plenty to see and do. There are no guidedtours, but RoomStewardsin the Mansion will be on hand to answer questions in addition to a short Introductory video inthehall.You can enjoy lunch as well as the usual home made cakes with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee, and a barbecure hosted by Shaws Butchers of Chingford. There will also be lunches available, the Copped Hall bar, pizza and ice cream vans.Making a welcome return this year will be the Royal Heritage Living History Group who this time will be strolling around the grounds and Mansion as Georgian Ladies and Gentlemen. Ask them if they have met John Conyers, the man who built the current Georgian mansion in the 1750's!Plants, cut flowers and produce will be for sale in the Walled Garden. You can also buy gifts and books in the Copped Hall Gift Shop and our ever-popular second-hand Book Stall will be open. Children's entertainment and live music will be happening throughout the day.The Chingford Morris Men performing for the third time.
The Friend's desk will be there to deal with any enquiries on the day.Mansion - Cellars, stables, Ground and First Floor. Gardens - including the site of earlier houses and the Walled Garden. Access to Cellars and 1st Floor of the Mansion is currently via staircase only. Gardens are unudlating/uneven lawn surfaces with some paths on a sloping site. The Walled Garden is also on a sloping site.
The garens have very limited access currently for wheelchair users. However, our Golf Buggy will be available to take visitors with mobility issues down to, and back from, the gardens and to the Walled Garden.Last entry at 4.00pm. Car Park Gates close at 5.15pmTickets bought in advance online are cheaper than tickets bought on the date at entry point. Online sales close at 10pm the night before the event. Cash and cards are accepted on the day.
