Brahms Sextet No. 2 in GThe opening concert of this years Hastings Chamber Music Festival explores the idea of transfiguration - a theme that runs through both the music and the human stories behind it, inspired by Schoenbergs Verklrte Nacht, or Transfigured Night.Led by Artistic Director Jane Gordon, the Felix Ensemble brings together Schoenbergs extraordinary sextet with Brahmss radiant Sextet No. 2. Written almost forty years apart, these two great works reveal contrasting musical worlds, yet both explore profound emotional transformation. From Brahmss warmth and lyricism to Schoenbergs intense and richly coloured sound world, the programme moves between intimacy and intensity, darkness and light.Felix Ensemble
