Durham Music Service: Snappy Operas Gala Performance

Snappy Operas is an award-winning schools programme, making and performing new mini-operas with primary-aged children to help them discover and embrace the joy of opera.A Snappy Opera is a ten-minute opera for young people aged 7-11, introducing all the essential elements of opera – singing, acting and making – in fun, colourful and bite-size chunks.In this performance at Gala Durham as part of the Snappy Operas Festival 2026, children from mainstream and SEND specialist schools in Durham will share what they have created with you, including the World Premiere of Ice Cream Opera – a brand-new Snappy Opera created by composer Loreta Narvilaitė and librettist Ieva Budriūnaitė from Lithuania.
