We are pleased to invite you to join us for a talk on: The History of Portsmouth DockyardThis illustrated talk will trace some of the many ways in which Portsmouth Dockyard has changed and developed over time.

Starting with the dockyard built by King Richard I, it will include such milestones as the building of the Victorian dockyard and the launching of the mighty HMS Dreadnought, as well as exploring the yard and its naval role.

Moving forward through the decades, the talk will cover the impact of the two world wars, as well as the Cold War, before bringing the story up to date. The talk will be presented by Dr Philip MacDougall, a local author and historian specialising in the development of navies and dockyards in the 18th century.

In addition to many books on naval and military subjects, Philip is also the author of books about the history of Chichester.Tickets can only be purchased via TicketSource.
