Mozart, Weir and SchubertOpening with Mozart's Duo for Violin and Viola in G major, the audience is welcomed into a world of elegant conversation between the two instruments, full of clarity and charm.
This is followed by Judith Weir's The Bagpipers, a lively and characterful string trio that draws on folk-inspired elements, offering rhythmic energy and a distinctly modern voice.
The programme culminates in Schubert's beloved "Trout" Quintet, a masterpiece of warmth and lyricism, where its famous variations shimmer with melodic beauty and playful interplay. The music throughout the evening highlights the richness of chamber writing, from classical refinement to contemporary colour, brought to life by the Haldon Quartet: Lindsay Braga (violin), Andrew Gillett (viola), Rebecca Allnatt (cello), Michael Allnatt (double bass), and rising young pianist Anton Pigott from Totnes.
A recent winner of the Two Moors Festival 2026 and soon to take up a scholarship at the Royal Northern College of Music, Anton returns after his acclaimed performance of the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto with the Haldon Ensemble last year, bringing fresh energy to one of the most celebrated works in the chamber repertoire.Mozart Duo for Violin and Viola in G Major.Judith Weir "The Bagpipers" String Trio.Schubert "Trout" Quintet.
