Unforeseen: Improvising Life and Music is a 60‑minute multimedia performance by cellist and sound artist Justyna Jablonska, exploring migration, memory and the unpredictable act of improvising a life.
Blending live cello, electronics, spoken word and film, she creates a richly layered world of sound and image.
Drawing on early childhood memories, field recordings and testimonies from Polish, Ukrainian and Roma migrants, the piece weaves maternal voices, lullabies, birdsong, Eastern European folk melodies and atmospheric electronica. Its semi‑improvised form brings immediacy, intimacy and emotional charge.
Featuring a film by Anna Leszczynska, with haunting photography and animated visions of post‑industrial landscapes. Co‑directed with Fiona McKinnon and co‑written with Alex Edmonds.
Supported by Creative Scotland and Chamber Music Scotland.
Under 16s must be accompanied by an over 18. This is a seated event. The Dome venue is wheelchair accessible. If you require further information on accessibility please visit our [Accessibility Guide](https://www.fringebythesea.com/accessibility-2/) or contact info@fringebythesea.com.
