Dance Makes the Floor

How do you start a party from scratch? Starting with a completely empty street, Mark Bleakley’s team will arrive in the Merchant City and begin to physically build a dancefloor right before your eyes.

Once the final piece is laid, the team will kick off the movement, transforming the pavement into a vibrant, open-air stage.Developed with A/V artist Cameron Howard, the interactive sound system uses a webcam to link live movement directly to the music.

The track _only_ plays and speeds up when the dance floor is moving.Part choreographic performance, part open dance floor, this event showcases the pure power of moving together.

Local and international dance groups will take to the floor to showcase their skills, before the people of Glasgow are invited to step up, join in, and bring the festival’s opening day to life!
