Tickets 12 + Booking FeeBetween 1975 and 76 The Pier was unquestionably the heartbeat of the Northern Soul movement. During this period it eclipsed all other Nighters playing its own progressive soundtrack to not one but two packed out venues.
For those that experienced the Pier, the people the music the clapping and stomping in tandem and the 2.00 am walk down to the Wintergardens then being hit by sweat dripping from the walls once inside..... it was heaven. Then the walk back to hear the rhythmic clapping and stomping get louder the closer you get.
So for those that were their this is a holy soul place in the height of our youth that will live with us for ever.
The Pier closed in as a Nighter in 76 due to concerns about it sinking but the sounds and evolution of soul lived on at the Wintergardens from 76 through the 80's and beyond.
