Around twenty percent of all TV scripted drama is crime, and it seems that TV audiences just can’t get enough of flawed detectives, red herrings, gritty streets and seeing the baddies get their just desserts.
Our Guest Curator MJ Arlidge writes the best-selling DI Helen Grace series and ran his own TV production company for many years, as well as writing well-known television dramas including Silent Witness and Monarch of the Glen.
The writer Ruth Ware recently saw her 2016 novel The Woman in Cabin 10 adapted by Netflix into a big budget thriller starring Keira Knightley (with others rumoured to be in development).
Together they explore the adaptation process from both perspectives, and the enduring popularity of crime on the small screen.
There will be a book signing after this event.
