Jovana Backovic and Jenny Cook

Jovana Backovic is a Serbian born composer and a vocalist performing traditional music from all over the Balkan region: songs in which young maidens speak to birds and flowers, love lost on the battlefield, waiting for dear ones to return and feeling of nostalgia for the country one has left. This performance will weave together songs from Hungary, Serbia, ex-Yugoslav Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria as well as old Sephardic melodies.
Jenny Cook is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from North Yorkshire, weaving ethereal vocal harmonies, guitar, violin, harp and shruti box into tender, honest songs about healing, connection and the natural world. Cook released her debut album in May to acclaim and has recently supported award-winning Scottish singer-songwriter Adam Holmes on tour in England and Scotland, and Dawn Landes on her UK tour.
