Steel Magnolias

The Oxted Players are performing Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling.This wonderful humorous and moving tragicomedy play (with an all-female cast) takes place in the late 1980s, at Truvy’s in-home beauty parlour in the fictional northwestern Louisiana parish of Chinquapin, where a group of women regularly gather.The title suggests the “female characters are as delicate as magnolias but tough as steel”.

The magnolia specifically references a magnolia tree they are arguing about at the beginning.
