About

In this session, you’ll have a chance to consider the fine line between free expression of ideas and speech that is considered extremist.

In this session, you’ll have a chance to consider the fine line between free expression of ideas and speech that is considered extremist. We live in a world of echo chambers, viral content, and powerful algorithms, and the boundaries are becoming harder to identify than ever before.
Through interactive activities, we will discuss how to protect people who might be drawn down the rabbit hole of extremism. Come ready to challenge your assumptions, hear diverse perspectives, and leave with practical tools to guard against extremist language.Lara is a Professor of psychology at The Open University. As a community and social psychologist, she investigates potential constraints and enablers affecting the engagement of marginalised, under-served populations within the criminal justice system.Sponsored by The Open University in Scotland.
