Handel Messiah

Arguably the archetypal large-scale choral work, Handelâs Messiah (HWV 56) is easy to take for granted. However, its muscular rhythmic character and judicious orchestration speak powerfully of Jesus Christâs world-changing, sacrificial life. Arias such as âœHe was despisedâ and âœI know that my redeemer livethâ show a surprising softer side to the work, but it is clearly primarily an exhilarating choral showcase.Oxford Harmonic Choir
