Come and join us on the heartwarming trip of a lifetime around the world in 60 minutes of words and music. Setting out from Orkney, ‘Journeyings’ will circumnavigate the globe via Glasgow, London, Venice, Antarctica and other destinations between, even the Moon! Our programme took shape from an idea proposed at Innerpeffray Library near Crieff and includes music by Peter Maxwell Davies, Felix Mendelssohn and Erik Satie as well as the writing of George Mackay Brown, Jackie Kay and Gerda Stevenson, and many more. We very much look forward to welcoming you on board. With actor Crawford Logan, pianist Joan Taylor, and cellist Susan Smart.Crawford Logan
Having trained at the Webber Douglas Academy in London, Crawford has gone on to become one of Scotland’s most popular and respected actors both in theatre and particularly as a radio actor for 50 years.
However, 3 West End shows and appearing with Tom Baker in “Dr Who” do nothing to diminish the pleasure of working with musicians. These include the Carducci Quartet, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Red Note Ensemble, the Thomas Tallis Society and touring a programme about Clara Schumann with the pianist Reiko Fujisawa among many others.
More recently he was The Wizard in Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s production of The Wizard of Oz and Scrooge in the Lyceum’s A Christmas Carol.
Crawford has recorded many audiobooks both commercially and for RNIB Talking Books. He is also very proud to have directed several shows in Cornton Vale Prison.Joan Taylor - Piano
Originally from Northern Ireland Joan Taylor lives in Crieff. A music graduate of Bangor University, North Wales she studied composition with William Mathias.
As well as a teaching career Joan also conducts the Innerpeffray Singers and is a member of the Rosenethe Singers.
Susan Smart - Cello
Susan Smart is based in Crieff and teaches cello and piano at Morrison’s Academy. She is a graduate of the RSAMD and performs throughout Scotland for various ensembles, which include Perth Sinfonia, The 4 cellos, Ruthven Festival Orchestra and The Ferntower Ensemble.
