Charlie Hunter

Influential American 7 string guitarist Charlie Hunter performs in conjunction with the release of his critically acclaimed new album for Snarky Puppy’s GroundUp imprint called ‘Everybody Has a Plan Before They Get Punched In The Mouth.’ Accompanying Hunter will be drummer Bobby Previte, trumpeter Yelfris Valdes and trombonist Kieran McLeod.Hailing from San Francisco, Charlie Hunter is one of the most exciting jazz guitarists working today, and one whose style is genuinely unique.

First coming to prominence in the early 1990s, Hunter has recorded 17 albums on which he plays custom-made seven and eight-string guitars, simultaneously playing basslines, rhythm guitar, and solos.

Critic Sean Westergaard described Hunter’s guitar technique as “mind-boggling … he’s an agile improviser with an ear for great tone, and always has excellent players alongside him in order to make great music, not to show off”.
