A journey through Scottish music and culture, featuring a spellbinding combination of voice and instruments!The Bubblyjock Collective comprising soprano Jessica Leary, accordionist Neil Sutcliffe and pianist Anna Michels are passionate champions of the richness of Scottish music and culture. At the heart of their current project, Quines (a Scots word meaning 'young women'), is a brilliant new song cycle by composer Lisa Robertson, giving voice to a diverse array of remarkable women from Scotland's history.Programme

Works byHelen Hopekirk, Isobel Dunlop, Marie Dare andClaire LiddellThe Bubblyjock Collective comprising soprano Jessica Leary, accordionist Neil Sutcliffe and pianist Anna Michels are an exciting new ensemble which champions classical and contemporary music written in Scotland.Soprano Jessica Leary ('a class act - every note true and beautiful' Opera Magazine ) has worked throughout the UK and abroad with companies including Scottish Opera, Bayreuth Festival, Grange Festival Opera, Buxton International Festival, Dunedin Consort, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and OAE Choir, and at venues and festivals such as BBC London Proms, Edinburgh International Festival, Wigmore Hall, and Barbican Centre. Highlights on the concert platform include Bach St Matthew Passion with Dunedin Consort; Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (recorded for BBC Radio 3), and Vaughan Williams A Pastoral Symphony with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.Neil Sutcliffe is an accordionist and folksinger from Stirling, Scotland. His roots are in the traditional music scene in Scotland, coming from a family of musicians and growing up surrounded by folksongs, ballads, pipe tunes, and ceilidh dancing. Neil studied Classical Accordion with Djordje Gajic at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with a First Class degree in Performance and receiving several awards for his academic work and research into the history and contemporary accordion scene in Scotland. As a classical musician, he focuses on researching, performing and promoting neglected Scottish composers and music relating the Scottish history, language and place.Scottish-Dutch pianistAnna Michels has performed internationally as a soloist and collaborative pianist. Anna graduated from her Masters and Artist Diploma at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Head of Keyboard Aaron Shorr. Alongside vocalists and various chamber ensembles, Anna has won prizes internationally, including the International Swedish Duo Competition and the International Anton Garcia Abril Chamber Music Competition. Anna has an interest in unearthing hidden treasures of the classical repertoire, with a focus on Scottish composers. This has culminated in giving lecture-recitals internationally, including at the London International Piano Symposium and Musica Scotica Conference.+++PLEASE NOTE+++
