This year’s Hamish Henderson Memorial Lecture is presented by Dr.

Stephanie Smith, hosted by TRACS (Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland). The force of Hamish Henderson’s influence spans beyond Stephanie Smith’s time as a postgraduate student in the 1970s and 1980s, when she studied tradition bearers such as Lizzie Higgins and the Fisher family.

Stephanie went on to work for over two decades at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife & Cultural Heritage in Washington DC, including a period as Archives Director.
