Celebrating 240 Years of Print in KilmarnockTo mark the 240th anniversary of John Wilson’s printing shop in Kilmarnock, this exhibition explores the fascinating history of print within East Ayrshire’s museum collections.Beginning with the most famous work to come out of Wilson’s press, Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect by Robert Burns (also known the Kilmarnock Edition and his first published work), the exhibition highlights how print has been used to share ideas, stories and culture, both through text and imagery.Visitors can also discover a number of rarely displayed items, including the Kirk Session Book on loan from Mauchline Parish Church, featuring the signatures of Robert Burns and Jean Armour - the only known document in the world to contain both.On display in the North Museum.
