Comedy Train for Charity - London Showcase

Comedy Train for Charity gives people the opportunity to learn stand-up comedy completely free of charge while raising money for good causes. After weeks of training, our latest group of aspiring comedians are leaving the classroom behind and taking to the stage for their live charity showcase. For some, it will be their first ever stand-up performance.

For others, it’s an opportunity to develop their comedy, build their confidence and perform in front of a live audience. The project is run by Comedy Train, which provides accessible comedy training in stand-up, improv, clowning, comedy writing and performance.

The aim is to remove some of the financial barriers to learning comedy while using live performance to bring people together and raise money for charity. The London showcases will be hosted by Tom Short, an award-winning comedian, performer and comedy trainer with more than a decade of experience in live comedy.Tom won a Keep It Fringe Award in 2024, was runner-up in the Chortle Student Comedy Award 2019 and a Leicester Square New Comedian finalist.

His 2026 Edinburgh Fringe show received a five-star review from Phoenix Remix, was shortlisted for the ISH Edinburgh Comedy Award, and received nominations for the Comedians’ Choice Award and International Cultural Awards.Away from performing, Tom has taught comedy at university and college level and has delivered comedy training across the UK.Expect an unpredictable mix of brand-new comedians, different styles and personalities, and the excitement that comes from watching people take a leap and perform live - while supporting charity at the same time.
