Wear the change: Swap, Stitch & Story

Join embroidery designer Rebeckah Kemi Apara for hands on creative workshops where shell be sharing the skills of hand embroidery. The workshops are themed around the botanical designs of textiles artist Althea McNish; a former Tottenham resident. During the workshop you will upcycle and add new life to your old garments with stitch work and beading.All levels are welcome.All you need to bring is an item of clothing to stitch on during the session, preferably something without stretch.This event isFREE!About the project
Wear the Change: Swap, Stitch, Storyis a culturally rooted, intergenerational fashion and wellbeing project delivered through monthly caf-based workshops at the Centre. Each workshop combines practical clothing swap, repair and creative upcycling with a structured cultural exchange, inviting participants to share and learn reuse, repair and make it last practices from different cultures and generations. Alongside hands-on textile skills, sessions explore fast fashion, waste management and simple ways to reduce household & clothing waste, using local cultural knowledge as a strength and a catalyst for behaviour change. The programme builds wellbeing and social connection through shared making and culminates in a community showcase celebrating collective creativity, cultural learning and sustainable habits.June:
