Lyre and Support

LYRE is back with their second album, We Had No Idea, a groovy and joyful meeting of modern Scottish and Swedish traditional music.Cellist Alice Allen, Nordic-mandola player, Marit Fält and fiddler/violist Patsy Reid bring together three distinctive voices, creating music rooted in tradition but full of contemporary energy, flair and imagination.

Expect intricate strings, rhythmic drive, moments of tenderness and soul a-plenty.Four years on from their debut, Gin and Strathspey, LYRE’s sound has grown alongside the lives and experiences of its three members.

We Had No Idea reflects that journey: a mature and adventurous collection that engages with the world around them, while retaining the warmth, playfulness and musical chemistry that define the trio.
