Collective Gala

A vibrant celebration of art, place and people.Explore newly commissioned artworks and performance by Scottish artists, join behind-the-scenes telescope tours, shop with local makers, and enjoy creative play sessions for children. The day will culminate in a celebratory procession inspired by Gala traditions – led by artists Kat Stanley and Debjani Banerjee.All day activities will include the opportunity to see and buy work from local makers; enjoy food from Cafe Calton; view new artworks and performance from Debjani Banerjee; explore the architecture of the site; and check out our summer exhibitions from Katie Paterson and Richard Maguire.Scheduled activities include:
Tarot readings, signing and performance from Edinburgh-based artists Debjani Banerjee, Alexa Hare and Megan Rudden.
Creative play sessions for families led by artist Kat Stanley.
Edinburgh Astronomical Society tours of the historic Cooke Telescope.
A historical tour of Collective and Calton Hill by author, poet and founder of the Edinburgh Caribbean Association, Lisa Williams.
A celebratory procession across Collective Gallery's site, featuring a High Priestess inspired version of the Gala Queen, which visitors will be invited to adorn with flowers throughout the day.
