The Full Monty

"The Full Monty", the play, is based on the hugely successful, award winning film of the same name which was released in 1997.

Writer, Simon Beaufoy, adapted his screenplay for the stage in 2013.

The play is set in Sheffield in the 1990s when recession and redundancies ripped through the UK's industrial heartland .

A group of six unemployed and unlikely friends come together to form a male striptease act to make some money and to help one of them visit his son.

Although a comedy, The Full Monty also touches on serious issues like unemployment, depression, fathers' rights, homosexuality and working class culture.

The story follows the six friends, their wives and families, as they overcome many obstacles to be heroes "for one night and one night only".
