Sweet Charity

PWOS Presents SWEET CHARITY which follows the misadventures of Charity Hope Valentine, an eternal optimist, hopeless romantic, and taxi dancer at the seedy Fandango Ballroom, who simply wants to be loved.The women of the Fandango are tough, streetwise survivors navigating an exploitative, low wage nightlife world.

Cynical about men and their own futures, they band together in fierce solidarity.

Through their lives, the show sharply examines class divides, romantic disillusionment, and hard won resilience, all delivered with Bob Fosses signature sexy,sardonic, and utterly iconic choreography that blends jazz precision with wry commentary.A central thread running through the musical is the feeling of being trapped: emotionally in endless cycles of betrayal, socially and economically in dead end jobs, and sometimes quite literally.

This sense of repetition ripples beyond Charity to her fellow dancers and even some of the men, offering a bittersweet, distinctly 1960s commentary on working class dreams, shattered illusions, and the daily grind of survival.
