Henry VIII on Tour: The Kings Royal Progress of 1541, Kate Giles

Focusing on findings of Historic Royal Palaces and the University of Yorks recent research project, this talk will provide insights into Henrys Northern Progress of 1541.Professor Kate Giles is a buildings archaeologist with a special interest in communal buildings of the medieval and modern periods.

Kate has previously spoken at Markenfield on The Middleham Jewel and The Wall Paintings of Pickering Church.

A Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and Trustees of York Civic Trust, her book on the Wall paintings at Pickering Church won the Historians of British Art award in 2024.
