Creating Your Own Work

Up Front North West & Old Fruit Jar Productions are proud to present this new workshop, Creating Your Own Work, sponsored by the Jacob Billington Trust, and running in conjunction with our upcoming production of At Eternity's Gate. This workshop will be ran by the creative team of At Eternity's Gate, Creator & Performer Joseph Winder, and Director Alex King.This workshop, taking inspiration from the creative process of At Eternity's Gate, will cover various aspects of what it takes to create your own solo work. Topics covered in the session will include: Picking the right idea, building the world of the story you're trying to tell, and implementing design to your show.Through a series of exercises and group discussions, we will give you the tools you need in order to tell the stories you want to see told. Whether you are a performer, deviser, first-time writer, or seasoned director, this workshop is for you.Goals for leaving this workshop:
1. Have a strong foundation of knowledge in how to approach solo work
2. Leave the workshop with an idea you have explored and are ready to build upon.
3. Gain confidence in your ability as a creator.
4. Begun to have built a network of fellow creators you can lean and rely on.The workshop will run for 5 hours with intermittent breaks. Spots are limited.In collaboration of this workshop, The Jacob Billington Trust is sponsoring 5 free spaces for any creative under the age of 25.
