The Night With… Ensemble Offspring

Ensemble Offspring return to The Night With… from Australia after their first Scottish tour in 2019 with programme combining music from Scotland and Australia.

The programme features the world premiere of Beneath the Surface by Matthew Whiteside, an audio-visual work exploring humanity’s impact on the seabed through footage he has shot scuba diving and edited by his long time collaborator Marisa Zanotti.Alongside this will be a new work by Australian composer Alice Chance and works drawn from Ensemble Offspring’s award winning Songbirds project where composers respond to the songs of Australian birds.Ensemble Offspring is Australia’s leading new music group, standing at the forefront of musical innovation.

Led by internationally acclaimed percussionist Claire Edwardes OAM, the ensemble unites the country’s most fearless and virtuosic instrumentalists with a core “pierrot plus one” line up of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion.

Together, they create “visceral, joyous music” (Sydney Morning Herald) through kaleidoscopically varied performances that blaze a trail for Australian music.
