Three brothers, Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan Maclean, made headlines last year when they arrived in Australia wild-haired and euphoric after breaking the world record for rowing non-stop and unsupported across the Pacific Ocean.
It was a journey of 9,000 miles and almost 140 days at sea, during which they endured violent tropical storms, survived one brother being washed overboard and, in a slightly surreal turn of events, took a call from Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.
Just a few years earlier, they were complete novices with no rowing experience.
After university, looking for a shared challenge, they decided to teach themselves.
What followed was an extraordinary journey that would test their resolve, their relationships and their belief in one another as they smashed records across not one, but two of the world’s most unforgiving oceans.
They talk to adventurer and stress resilience coach Vicki Anstey about grit, teamwork and what it takes to push to the limits of human endurance.
There is a book signing after this event.
