About
Naz Shah MP explores how lived experience - of place, class, gender, race, and faith - shapes the values we bring to public life.
Naz Shah MP explores how lived experience - of place, class, gender, race, and faith - shapes the values we bring to public life.
She argues that political neutrality is a myth: every citizen and every leader operates from a standpoint formed by personal history.
Naz was forced into marriage at the age of fifteen.
Within a couple of years, her mother would be in prison, jailed for murdering the man who had subjected her to years of physical and sexual torture, and Naz and her two younger siblings would be left to fend for themselves.
Drawing on her own journey and the communities she represents, she shows how acknowledging our standpoints can deepen empathy, strengthen democracy, and create more honest political conversations.Naz will be in conversation with Baroness Shaista Gohir.Followed by book-signing.
