Double Bill: Aidan Thorne and Jason Ball, "Poems of a Space" and Toby Hay

Join us for an evening of original compositions and music that will transport and uplift, with a double bill featuring Aidan Thorne and Jason Ball:
Poems of a Space CAM35 and Toby HayPoems of a Space, is the second album from the guitarist Jason Ball and bassist Aidan Thorne. All of the compositions on this album were written, arranged, recorded and mixed by the duo.
The concept of the album was to invoke nostalgia, rekindle a memory of a time and/or place. The pieces are engulfed in a fog of guitar ambience and measured 6 string bass textures.As with their previous release, Archwilior Traddodiad | Exploring the Tradition there is an emphasis on experiences within the Welsh landscape. The song Banc Y Celyn, refers to the hill overlooking Aidans home in Powys. And the track Clouds, was written after a hike
up the Sugar Loaf near Abergavenny.
Deeply rooted in jazz, the style carefully glides between written and improvised elements. Some of the compositions were realised and refined from recordings of loose jam sessions. One may hear nods to influences from 70s ECM records such as Terje Rypdall
