A nightingale Sang in Barnet- the Blitz and beyondBlue Door Theatre company dive into the local stories of Barnet 1940's, weaving a rich tapestry of verbatim stories and imagined events. The Bull Theatre's established community theatre company Blue Door have created a fascinating and moving production full of war time drama and classic songs.
We visit the newly built 1930's picture house - the Odeon. A flickering projector mirroring the heartbeats of people who work and visit the house of dreams. A magic lantern, bringing light to break the shadows, respite for all the strangers brought together as a family in a dusty makeshift, shelter.
A Barnet where some say they continued to hear the nightingale sing and a part of a London ruled by the skies, the sirens, the thrum, the moan and the silence. Written by the company, directed by Siobhan Dunne and Music arranged by Nick Godwin.
