In Buenos Aires, a dancer named Robert Davis is looking for a job.
He turns up at a cabaret owned by Eduardo Acuna, but the owner is too busy trying to get his daughter married to receive the dancer.
Maria has no intention of getting married, so her father sets up a ploy to change her mind, sending her flowers and love notes from an 'anonymous' admirer.
Through a combination of circumstances, Maria believes that the admirer is dancer Robert Davis, much to Acuna's dismay.
