Afternoon Music at The Goods Shed Wednesday 18th November 2026 - with Caroline Simpson and Claire SmithCaroline Simpson (cello) and Claire Smith (piano) are delighted to be performing at the Goods Shed for the third consecutive year.
They will be playing a selection of beautiful pieces from their constantly expanding repertoire including by music by Bach, Debussy, Vaughan Williams, Nadia Boulanger, Bruch, Amy Beach and others.After briefly studying clarinet, Caroline discovered her love for the cello.
She studied for a music degree and trained to be a music therapist.
She now teaches cello in Stroud to children and adults.
Caroline especially loves to explore the rich repertoire of chamber music for cello, plays in a string quartet and other ensembles and regularly performs as part of a cello duo and with Claire, who she first met at a chamber music course.South African-born pianist and dancer Claire Smith performs regularly in self-created innovative and collaborative dance projects, as well as teaching music in schools and to private pupils.
She is increasingly actively involved in chamber music, having acquired a fondness for the cello and piano repertoire, which she is enjoying developing in her creative alliance with Caroline.
She has also recently taken over directorship of the thriving chamber music course.Please do come and join us - you can enjoy some super music, meet your friends as well as maybe making new ones.
