A young Asian (Warnecke) from South London is given the chance to manage his uncle's laundrette, which he and his ex-skinhead boyfriend (Day-Lewis) transform into the latest word in laundromats. A notable early role for Day-Lewis and one of the classic films about Thatcher's Britain.
