From Oak Galls to Ink: Make Your Own Medieval Ink

Used as early as the 3rd century and widely used for writing and drawing in Europe for over a thousand years, this workshop covers the history, uses, and preservation issues of iron gall ink.

Using a historic recipe, we will go through the process of making the ink and have a chance to write and draw with it using a real quill.

Bring an apron to protect your clothes and an empty glass jar to bring some ink home with you!
