There is huge growth for improvised theatre around the world - where it is being recognised that as well as being funny, improv can create dramatic moments of honesty, fascinating stories, and unforgettable Characters.At SaSS we want to give the community an opportunity to explore improvisation as a storytelling medium.This course will include:What makes stories interesting? Language - improvising like your scene has been scripted!
Improvising characters with real emotions and motivations
Performance skills - how to create stage pictures and make moments memorableThis is a 4-week introduction course which will be skill focussed. Some improv experience would likely be helpful, but we also think the course will be beneficial for actors/performers that want to expand their skills.The course has been designed by Owen Scrivens and will be delivered by experienced members of the SaSS community. Owen has been improvising for over 20 years and has performed and taught improv theatre at festivals and theatres around Europe.We apologise that the space we will teach this course in is up a set of stairs - we continue to look for more accessible spaces in Sheffield.
