Steamship Shieldhall is delighted to announce a very special and completely new addition to our 2026 sailing programme.This inaugural Jazz Cruise is a unique event that brings together one of Britain’s most celebrated jazz musicians with one of Britain’s most remarkable historic ships.

Secured at short notice and available for one sailing only, this is a rare opportunity not to be missed.Guests joining us on board will be welcomed by Captain John Scott and Chris Dean himself before enjoying an afternoon of live jazz, steamship heritage and spectacular views of Southampton Water and the Solent.To mark this special occasion, every passenger will receive a complimentary glass of Prosecco or Nosecco on arrival, included within the ticket price.As Shieldhall steams away from Southampton, guests will enjoy close-up views of four cruise ships alongside their berths – Iona, MSC Virtuosa, Sky Princess and Ventura.

Returning later in the afternoon, there may also be opportunities to witness cruise ship departures, creating the perfect backdrop for Shieldhall’s famous steam whistle and unique “Shieldhall Organ”.

Internationally renowned trombonist and vocalist Chris Dean has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning jazz clubs, concert halls, television, film and recording studios around the world.Best known as the long-serving leader of the legendary Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Chris has performed alongside some of the greatest names in music, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, George Benson, Quincy Jones, Cleo Laine and Al Jarreau.Joining Chris for this special cruise are the exceptional musicians of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra rhythm section, featuring piano, double bass and drums.

Together they will perform a superb selection of classic jazz, swing standards, ballads and favourites from the Great American Songbook including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and icons from the swing era.Whether you’re a dedicated jazz enthusiast or simply enjoy outstanding live music, this promises to be a memorable afternoon of style, sophistication and first-class entertainment.Shieldhall’s fully licensed bar and galley will be open throughout the cruise, offering a wide selection of refreshments available to purchase.
