Prokofiev : Cinderella
Bizet: Carmen Suites
Bernstein : West Side Story Symphonic DancesThe concert starts with the waltz rhythms, lively tempos, and playful mood of the Fledermaus Overture, music typical of Viennese operetta. The overture is followed by dramatic and emotional ballet music based on the fairy tale of Cinderella. The bold melodies, and dramatic tension of Carmen follow and include the Habanera and the Toreador Song. The concert ends with the complex rhythms and energetic dances of Romeo and Juliet inspired West Side Story.
