Join us for a Meet the Author talk with Fiona Williams, author of The House of Broken Bricks.

Fionas work explores themes of identity, belonging and rural diversity.Fiona Williams is a writer of literary fiction.

Her debut novel The House of Broken Bricks was published by Faber in the UK in January 2024 and by Henry Holt in the USA in April 2024.

She was the winner of the 2021 Bridport Prize, Peggy Chapman-Andrews First Novel Award and was longlisted for the 2025 Diverse Book Awards.

Her work has been featured on BBC Radio 4 'Short Works', on the Lit Hub and in The Guardian.

Fiona is currently the Ambassador of the Exeter Novel Award and was selected as one of the National Centre for Writings ILX 10: Rising Stars of UK Writing 2025/26.

She holds a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Westminster and had a long career as a medical/scientific writer.

She has since gained an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University and is currently completing a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Exeter, where she also teaches as a Postgraduate Teaching Associate.This is a pay what you can event with a suggested ticket price of 5.
