This talk by Morticia will look at the outbreak of plague which affected the world in the 1300's. It will cover what caused it, how people responded to it and its long term devastating impact on medieval society. Surviving historical records will be examined with a focus on what happened in Yorkshire and England.Morticia is a Leeds based artist and historian who is interested in uncovering hidden histories and untold stories. She makes work inspired by Victorian era cemeteries, nineteenth century gothic fiction and mourning customs across the ages.
