Tim Fairhall on double bass/ Ted Carrasco on drums.Melodic jazz with inspirations from around the world.Cape Town-born pianist/composer Clouts South African roots have inspired a voyage of discovery that has led to him soaking up the joyful passion of Caribbean calypso, the bluesy melodies of middle eastern praise songs, the exuberant sway of Cuban dance music and the tuneful essence of Gospel while honoring jazz heroes including Bill Evans, Keith Jarred, and Charles Lloyd.As a key member of the popular London-based world jazz ensemble Zubop and its offshoot ZubopGambia, with BBC World Music award-winner Juldeh Camara, Clouts created a solid body of work with African roots and since moving to Dorset in 2006 he has responded to his new surroundings with impressionist c compositions that complement his world music interests, resonating with strong themes and packing a mighty rhythmical punch.The latest CD from the Philip Clouts Quartet is one of the first wave of releases on the new jazz imprint from prestigious label Odradek Records. On this album, entitled Umoya (named from the Zulu word for life force), Clouts African inspirations extend beyond Cape jazz to Gnawa music and Afrobeat, and further to pan-European folksong and soul-jazz. Joined by rising star saxophonist Samuel Eagles, bassist Tim Fairhall and drummer Ted Carrasco, he brings his musical journey alive with superb musicianship and infectious vigour.PRESSThe best of British jazz

As a performer, and songwriter, Jo is wonderfully self-deprecating, witty and down to earth.
She combines poignant observations and lyrical hooks with sensitive simplicity and honesty.Over the course of her musical career, Jo has collaborated with many musicians, producers and arrangers exploring different styles and genres of music within performances and recorded material.
She has created 4 albums since, and is now working on singles and perhaps the 5th.Jo Hooks first album, Inside Out, released in 2000, provided an early insight into the singer-songwriters love for melding different styles and the variety of influences. This was followed in 2005 by Settle Down which she recorded as the lead singer, guitarist and writer for the Folk-rock- indie influenced band Hook.Eight years later, she collaborated with Geoffrey Richardson (Caravan and Penguin Caf Orchestra) for Silence Surrounds Me, described by For Folks Sake as eleven tracks of lush folk-pop.Shiny Disposable Things is Jos fourth album, This she considers her most personal work yet and Jo was very proud to produce this album.You can read more about Jo on social media
