Sussex Wildlife Trust Guided Fungi Walk

Discover a variety of rare and wonderful fungi this autumn during this guided tour led by Senior Gardener Elliot Chandler.High Beeches is a true example of how ornamental gardens can be managed organically and support wildlife.

The gently sloping woodland areas contain naturalistic ghyll-fed ponds, and in autumn the trees are ablaze with colour.The gardens also play host to a wide variety of fungi, some that have only been recorded in two locations across Sussex.During this guided tour, Elliot will take you for a gentle wander through the meadows, helping you to identify the rich variety of fungi, and share how the gardens are managed and improved for wildlife.After the tour, there will be time to explore the rest of the garden at your own pace.

This is an opportunity to spend an afternoon in a beautiful location and hopefully come away with lots of inspiration for how you can make small changes to your own garden spaces to support biodiversity.As part of the tour, Elliot will touch on how High Beeches are working with Sussex Wildlife Trust, as part of the Wilder Ouse Project to manage the flow of water through the garden gills and creating scrapes and shallow ponds to increase bio-diversity.Ticket price includes entry to the garden.Advance booking essential.
