Be there for The Rebirth of The Hipster, an unmissable one-off rewind over two days marking 40 years of Glasgow Jazz Festival featuring a specially commissioned modern jazz quartet live and carefully curated all-vinyl DJ sets. The music policy is aimed squarely at the dancefloor modern jazz, latin and soul-jazz, the real deal in an intimate basement venue.
The original Hipster jazz club ran in Glasgows then up-and-coming Merchant City for three years in the early 90s, showcasing the best in live jazz and the citys top jazz DJs, running for 10 consecutive nights during the Jazz Festival one year.
Specials guests on Friday 12 June areThe Tom MacNiven Quartet, featuring organ, trumpet, saxophone and percussion. Tom is one of Scotland most respected jazz musicians and performed at the original Hipster club.
Resident DJs Steven Watt (High Street Funk & Soul), Martin Gavin (Original Hipster DJ and Caledoniasoul).
